Grief discussion group
The death of a loved one can be one of the most difficult of life’s experiences and challenge much of our ‘beliefs’ about the meaning of life, and of death, and beyond.
For those touched by grief, finding places in which such conversations can be safely held, with an openness to explore personal and transpersonal thoughts and experiences, is not an easy task.
This regular group meeting, for interested persons, is one such way.
BA, GradDipEdPsych, MSuicidology
Tony is a Psychologist who has worked for many years as a counsellor/mediator with the Family Court of Australia and with Relationships Australia (Vic).
The group will be run collaboratively and open to direction and input from participants, and may call upon different wisdom traditions in its format, but in particular:
the Lakota concept of hocokah or talking/healing circle
recognition of the ‘unseen’ world as well as the ‘seen’ world
a recognition that loss can be both debilitating and transformational
the importance of healing practices.
While participants may incorporate different religious beliefs, spirituality is defined as something that is very broadly based, ‘non denominational’ and ‘non institutional’ and grounded in personal and transpersonal lived experience. Many people find that this dimension is an essential element in their healing, but one that is not often openly discussed.
Please note that the group is aimed at those who are a little ‘further down the track’ in bereavement but is open to anyone who feels drawn.
