Life Is...Foundation

The Life Is...Foundation is a not for profit charitable organisation dedicated to well being and harm prevention in our community.

It has originated from the growing concern about increasing rates of emotional distress, including depression, self harm and suicidal behaviours that are occurring in our children, young people and adults and its aim is to develop and implement practical well being and harm prevention programs that enhance resilience as well as increasing knowledge and understanding of the issues involved.

These programs involve both prevention and postvention activities with an overall emphasis on the importance of establishing ongoing community connection.

In its project development, the Foundation relies on evidence based research and practice(1), and approaches the complexity of the issues involved in a balanced and pragmatic manner.

In all of its activities, the Foundation anchors its work in a constructive, strength based philosophy and recognises that positive primary relationships and connection to wider social and community networks is a key protective mechanism for children and young people as well as for adults (2). Therefore, in implementing its aims, the Foundation strongly emphasises the importance of education, strengthening positive relationships, purposeful living, and community connection.
